Species
US Fish and Wildlife presents lists, maps, database information as well as
news briefs and legislation. The USFWS has the most dependable listing
(TESS) of animals and
plants. Other sites are more likely to be outdated, still listing de-listed
species or not yet listing newly listed species.
- Marine Species
Protected Resources Office of National Marine Fisheries Service
lists marine animals that are protected, proposed, candidate, recovered, and
depleted.
- Threatened Plant Species
National Biology Information Infrastructure. Seventeen (17) flora database
including Aquatic , Wetland, and Invasive Plant Database and Threatened Plants
Database.
Birds

US Fish and Wildlife Office of Migratory Bird Management.
- Bird Population Studies
USGS Paxutent Wildlife Research Center provides information on bird species,
amphibians and migratory birds.
- Species Management
Abstracts
Wings of America. This site contains species management abstracts on
select species of birds. These abstracts contain information such as
breeding season, reproduction, habitat, etc.
Fisheries

Information on one of largest listings to occur in an urban area.
Plants
- Plant Databases
National Biology Information Infrastructure. Seventeen (17) flora database
including Aquatic , Wetland, and Invasive Plant Database and Threatened Plants
Database.
- Plant Database
USDA. "The PLANTS Database is a single source of standardized information
about plants. This database focuses on vascular plants, mosses, liverworts,
hornworts, and lichens of the U.S. and its territories. The PLANTS Database
includes names, checklists, automated tools, identification information, species
abstracts, distributional data, crop information, plant symbols, plant growth
data, plant materials information, plant links, references, and other plant
information. PLANTS reduces costs by minimizing duplication and making information
exchange possible across agencies and disciplines."
Biodiversity
- GAP
National Biological Survey (USGS). A GIS assisted program that intends to
provide current and projected measures of biodiversity in managed areas as
a basis for managing conservation lands. This site is mostly text about how
this could be done, with some textual references to case studies.
