Updated HarborSym Version 0.0.17.0 Released


The newest version of HarborSym is available for download effective May 9, 2008. The improvements included in this release would not have been possible without the outstanding comments, suggestions, and bug spotting from the HarborSym user community.


Capabilities incorporated into this release include:

  • Implemented functionality to allow the user to set up safety zones within the application and to allow users to run simulations with safety zones enabled.
  • The Time Waiting Summary section was added to the Scenario Comparison Report.
  • The names of the rules and reaches have been added to the Reach Rule Violations Report.
  • Information related to waiting at a turning basin and the average amount of time waiting at a turning basin was removed from the Single Scenario Report due to the fact that vessels cannot wait at a turning basin.
  • The Single Scenario Report was updated to reflect time waiting at anchorages and average time waiting at anchorages.
  • When viewing Dock Visits in the application, the first column that will be displayed in the right pane will now be Vessel Call ID.
  • The application now displays user friendly messages when the user attempts to import data through menus without first selecting a project.
  • The application now displays a user friendly message if the user selects the incorrect spreadsheet during import.
  • Previously, when users attempted to import more than 8,000 rows of data the MS Access database link would not function properly. This technology has been updated to utilize record sets so that large amounts of data can now be imported successfully.
  • Previously, not all related data was removed when a dock was deleted. The application now provides a warning to the user and all data related to the deleted dock is removed.
  • Modified two Port Transit Rules to highlight their required fields. For Draft and Combined Beam Width Limit, Parameter 1 is now highlighted. Also, for Draft Limit V1 Priority Vessel V2, the application now highlights the MV Draft field.

HarborSym Version 0.0.17.0 will update studies developed using the previous release. The first time a user launches a project created by the previous version, HarborSym will display a series of pop-up windows indicating the necessary files are being updated for use with Version 0.0.17.0. Users should simply click "OK" or follow the instructions provided.Once a project has been updated by the latest version of HarborSym, it will no longer operate under previous versions.
