Browser Check: Acrobat Reader Capability

The final test is to check for the Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® plug-in.

Within the NED Online Manual website you may see files offered as a PDF. These may be identified with this icon . Other links may not identify files with this icon, however if your browser is properly configured, it will identify PDF files automatically and handle them appropriately. To add to the overall experience intended for audiences of the NED Online manuals it's important that you have this valuable plug-in installed on your system.

The Acrobat Reader plug-in allows browsers on all platforms to view and print Portable Document Format [PDF] files. PDF documents are small in file size and don't require dependent fonts or image files. They have become the format of choice for the Internet.

To view PDF files through your browser you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Depending on which version of PDF reader you are using, and how it is configured, one of two things will happen when you encounter PDF files online. Either the file will open directly in your browser, or the file will download to your computer and will launch Acrobat Reader. To check to see if you are able to view PDF files now, click the Acrobat PDF Test button.

If you get an error message, or your browser does not automatically display this PDF file, you should download and install the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in.
